Chris Grant grew up in a small town outside of Springfield, MO, but he always had big dreams. As a kid, he dreamed of traveling far away from the wood paneled walls in his childhood home, to the places he saw on television.

 

As a teenager, Chris became obsessed with music, as an escape from a tumultuous upbringing. No matter what was happening, someone else had been through something similar, and had written a song about it. He loved music so much that he became a turntable DJ, and hosted hundreds of parties in Southwest Missouri over the span of a couple of decades.

Later on, Chris got a job producing specialized DJ mixes for a local radio station, and he also opened a record store in downtown Springfield, MO. After the pandemic, one of the venues where he was a DJ, decided to permanently close its doors. At this time, Chris decided that his turntables were getting pretty heavy to keep carrying around, so he would pivot artistically and try stand up comedy.

 

Since then, he’s done open mics and shows in several different states, and has opened for quite a few big names. In his act, Chris talks about what it’s like to grow up poor in the Ozarks, but also demonstrates what it’s like to make something of yourself, even when the odds are against you. Chris has been through it all, and still finds ways to find the funny in everything that has happened in his life.
